The Tyler Hansbrough Show

How about that UNC-Clemson game last night? The entire second half + OTs had me on the edge of my seat. Tyler Hansbrough proved once again that he deserves the POY honors, 39 and 13, including 13 points in the OTs. Big win to avoid a 2nd straight loss, and fall into a tie for second in the ACC. Nice way of bouncing back by Ellington too.

Nice to see I went 3-0 on the sport I knew most this weekend, College Basketball. I think I may pick the top 25 games daily from now on.

2 days til the hearings with Clemens/Pettitte/McNamee, 3 days til pitchers and catchers report for the Yankees. More on the Yanks coming up soon.

As for tonights NCAA picks..

Villanova (14-8, 4-6 Big East) at #8 Georgetown (19-3, 9-2 Big East); 7pm EST (ESPN): Georgetown was upset by a very good and underrated Louisville team over the weekend, so it isn't a loss to be ashamed of. However, the team needs to bounce right back with a big win tonight. This is almost a must-win for 'Nova, as they need a marquee win, plus they can't fall 3 games under .500 in the Big East. I just don't think they have the team to beat Georgetown, especially a Hoyas team thats hungry to rebound from a tough loss.

My Prediction: Georgetown 69-53

*Game of the Night*
#3 Kansas (23-1, 8-1 Big XII) at #11 Texas (19-4, 6-2 Big XII); 9pm EST (ESPN): The big game of the night features 2 teams who could be serious contenders come March Madness. Kansas was one of the favorites from the start of the season, and has stayed true to that, with the lone loss to a game Kansas State team. Texas has survived the loss of Kevin Durant and many believe the team to be a better team without him. Sherron Collins will continue the strong play he displayed against Baylor, and that could make a difference.

My Prediction: Kansas 77-68

#21 Saint Mary's (20-3, 7-1 WCC) at Santa Clara (12-10, 4-3 WCC); 11pm EST (ESPN2): Saint Mary's picked up a big overtime win against Gonzaga last time out that put them in a deadlock atop the West Coast Conference standings. However, the team is only 2-3 on the road all season, and haven't proven they can be as good as they are at home. They embarrassed Santa Clara in their first meeting of the season, winning 76-45. There could be some revenge factor in that for the Broncos. John Bryant is one of the better unknown players in college, and I think he could show something tonight.

My Prediction: Santa Clara 65-54

Last Time: 3-0
Season: 3-0
